The full time and service missionaries of the Chalco Mission
gathered for Zone Conferences on June 17-18, 2014, in the Chalco
Stake Center. Three zones (Solidaridad, Meyehaulco and Volcanes) attended the first day. The other three zones (Chalco, Mixquic and Ixtapaluca)
the following day. The Conferences were held immediately after the month
of May during which the mission baptized 81 new members, a figure
considerably higher than any previous month dating back to the creation
of the mission on 1 July 2013.
After opening exercises and recital of the mission
scripture and missionary objective, Dr. Ortiz, a local physician on a
service mission, spoke to the missionaries about practicing good hygiene
and avoiding illness. Dr. Ortiz was followed by President and Sister
Gonzalez of the Mexico City Temple, who instructed the missionaries on
temple related matters, including the importance of keeping temple
covenants.
Subsequent to the Gonzalez´s remarks, the mission divided into 3 workshops on topics varying from data entry on Baptismal Certificates, managing and budgeting finances, and improving the culture of the mission. The workshops were taught by some of our senior missionaries, including Sister Blanco, Elder Alvarado, and the Assistants to the President, Elders Perez and Pereyra.
A great lunch was served on both days, followed by a presentation on the Sacred Grove and the First Vision by Elder Bird, with an accompanying special musical number by Hermanas Reyes, Guerber, and Maldonado. President Crickmore spoke to close both conferences.

The central theme of the Zone Conferences was improving
the culture, the order, and the reverence of the Mission. The Spirit was
felt by everyone who attended the Conferences, and every missionary
departed with the assignment to contemplate what he or she might do to
improve the culture of the Mission.
